Earlier this week the UK recorded its hottest day of the year so far, reaching 38°C on Thursday in Southern England. Thankfully, temperatures have cooled down since the start of the weekend, dropping closer to the seasonal average in northern parts, and to more bearable highs in the South. Will this trend continue and does this mean there will be more rain?

Since the start of the weekend, the UK has started to experience a change in its weather regime as a cold front has introduced a fresher feel throughout and scattered showers have started to develop in places, particularly in the North West.

Today is off to another cool start, as overnight temperatures finally drop below 20°C in the South and reached between 10-16°C across the UK.In terms of weather conditions, most people can expect it will be quite mixed with clearer and brighter skies in the South East and East

of England, and cloudier and rainier in some western areas of England, Northern parts of Wales and Northwestern parts of Scotland. Mixed weather, with cloud and rain on the forecast this morningShowers will be most common over higher ground in central and southern pa

rts of England, and cloud cover will come and go through the mo

rning and afternoon, meaning largely fine and dry weather for most in England and Wales. This is how England currently looks from the air. Brown. Dry. Scorched. This is likely to be the hottest summer on record by some margin
