Temperatures will drop below 20°C in the South overnight as cold front brings a fresher feel to the UK

After a very hot and humid week, with temperatures soaring to 38.1°C on Thursday in southern parts of the UK, the weekend already presents a change for the cooler and wetter. How much cooler will it be where you live and will there finally be rain coming to the UK?

After some early morning rain, dry weather now dominates over most of the UK. Partly cloudy skies will remain this afternoon, with most of this cloud cover being quite high, making sunshine hazy in places, but it could be relatively thick in some northern areas of England, and various parts in Scotland.

Scotland will likely see scattered showers dominating over the North-western coast whilst southern areas, including most England and Wales, should be brighter by comparison, with plenty of sunny spells alongside some bright skies with high cloud. whilst

With these changes and introduction of cloud and fresher air, we can expect temperatures to be lower than in recent days, but remain hot particularly in the South East.

Expect highs of 27°C or more in London, Maidstone, Bournemouth, and other southern areas. Regions from Plymouth to Worcester to Lincoln and as far north as Bradford are expected to reach highs in the low to mid-twenties.

Though these temperatures will still feel warm for many, they do mark a 7-8 degree difference compared to yesterday, particularly in areas of East Anglia and South East England .
