A brief spell of fresher weather will quickly give way to another surge of heat this week as high pressure strengthens across the UK. Temperatures are set to climb day by day, with Heat Health Alerts remaining in force and further warnings possible as the heatwave intensifies.
Following Sunday’s heat, Monday will bring another dry and settled day for much of the UK as high pressure builds across the country. Lengthy spells of sunshine and light winds will make for pleasant conditions, although a few isolated showers may bubble up near some coasts and across the far north.

England and Wales will enjoy the best of the sunshine beneath largely clear blue skies, while Scotland and Northern Ireland see a mixture of sunny spells and patchy cloud.
Temperatures will peak at around 28°C in southern England, making it a touch cooler than Sunday, while northern areas remain closer to the seasonal average with highs around 20–22°C.
A dry and clear evening will follow for most, although cloud will gradually increase across the north-west overnight with a few spots of rain reaching parts of north-west Scotland.
Overnight temperatures will fall to between 10°C and 15°C, making for a fresher night than recently.

Tuesday will begin with plenty of sunshine across England and Wales, while cloud across Northern Ireland and Scotland gradually breaks to reveal hazy sunshine during the afternoon.
