YouGov surveys conducted just after June’s heatwaves showed that Britons attributed the increased temperatures to climate change but did not think that addressing it was an immediate need.
Even as UK battles heatwaves, people aren’t concerned about climate changeThe recent heatwaves may have troubled a lot of people in the UK but did not change their attitudes towards climate change, a survey from YouGov has shown. The data analytics firm conducted the survey just days after the heatwaves in late June and compared them to replies recorded in previous years to arrive at this conclusion.
What did the survey find?
As Britons were recovering from the heatwaves, the survey received a high number of responses, with individuals attributing the extreme weather event to climate change. As many as 71 percent of the people surveyed thought that the heatwave was likely a result of climate change, with 40 percent of people picking ‘very likely’ over the ‘likely’ option.
However, this did not reflect on the question of whether respondents of the survey were worried about climate
