Britain’s third heatwave of the summer continues to make meteorological history, with Monday marking the ninth consecutive day that somewhere in the UK has recorded temperatures of 30°C or higher.
The prolonged spell of hot weather has already become one of the most notable in recent decades, and with forecasts showing little sign of a significant breakdown, forecasters are watching to see whether more records could soon fall.

While temperatures dipped slightly across some eastern areas on Monday thanks to brisk easterly winds, the heat remains firmly established across much of England and Wales, with highs of around 31°C expected in the southwest.
