The prolonged spell of hot and dry weather continues this week, with temperatures exceeding 30°C once again. Amid little rainfall, many places have already seen fires spread, with the risk only growing in the week ahead.

The UK’s third heatwave shows no end in sight, with high pressure remaining firmly in control and bringing more sunshine, above-average temperatures and very little rainfall.
The combination of prolonged dry weather, strong sunshine and a lack of rain is continuing to dry out vegetation, increasing the risk of wildfires in some areas, with firefighters already tackling 19 separate wildfires on Monday afternoon according to the National Fire Chief’s Council.
Hot and sunny weather continues, but cooler on North Sea coasts
Tuesday begins with patches of low cloud across eastern and central areas after drifting inland overnight from the North Sea.
Much of this cloud will quickly burn away through the morning, leaving long spells of sunshine across England, Wales and much of western Scotland.
