UK Weather: New week starts with a bang as forecast shows 5 days of rain.

Many are hoping that the start of this new week might finally bring a change to the scorching and dry weather conditions that have occurred over the past month. The good news is that rain is on the forecast for the beginning of the week. Will this rain be enough to compensate for the drought conditions?

Over the weekend, we began the month of August and left behind what the Met Office is provisionally calling one of if not the driest July for England and Wales in 190 years.

This comes as more than half of England and the entirety of Wales have officially been announced to be in drought, as extreme heat, combined with abundant sunshine and an almost complete absence of rainfall in some areas has resulted in exceptional weather statistics.

Fresher conditions have now extended across the UK with plenty of showers developing across Scotland last weekend.

Much of northwest Europe remain under extreme drought conditions with over a month without any measurable rainfall for many.
