England and Wales to receive up to 30mm of much-needed rain. Is it going to continue to rain?
Conversations in the media and digital platforms seem to have focused on the lack of autumnal conditions in parts of the UK, with many wondering when Britain’s characteristic grey skies, rain and cold temperatures would return.
To a certain extent, people are right to question this as for much of this autumn, the jet stream has sat to the North of the UK, allowing for mild southerly air to flow and bring warm air from the nearby continent.
This has kept temperatures above average, particularly for the Southern half of the country, whilst wet and windy conditions dominated in the North. However, from this morning, many will already be noticing a change occurring. This is happening as the jet stream is sinking southwards;
