A prologued dry spell is raising concerns about potential droughts in the UK, especially in parts of Wales where a drought was officially declared on Thursday. This weekend promises to bring some rainfall, though this is likely to be light and fleeting for most. How rainy will it be in your area?
High pressure has dominated the pressure charts and forecasts for the last few weeks, bringing above-average temperatures and extremely dry conditions for many. In fact, a drought was officially declared for large parts of north and mid-Wales on Thursday.
The UK will begin to see a modest change this weekend as a weak weather front pushes south across the UK this morning bringing some much-needed rain.
But don’t get your hopes up. The rain is expected to be light and mainly concentrated in the north and west, so it is unlikely to alleviate the drought pressures in many southern areas.
