London weather: A cooler weekend after long-lasting heatwave conditions, but will it rain?

After a remarkably hot and humid spell this week for the capital, where temperatures exceeded 37°C, London is set for a noticeable change this weekend as a cold front moving south-eastwards through the country is now bringing fresher air and a more comfortable feel. What is in store for the weekend?

The weekend is off to a fine and dry start with some variable cloud and the possibility of an isolated thundery shower. Conditions should become generally dry as the day progresses.

Sunny spells are expected for much of the day, although some high cloud could make the sunshine hazy at times.

With lighter winds and lower humidity than earlier in the week, it should f

eel considerably more comfortable, despite remaining hot by normal August standards.

The capital is forecast to reach up to 29°C, with an overnight minimum of approximately 16°C.

Humidity could still reach around 65%, so it will not feel completely dry, but this represents a significant improvement from the oppressive conditions experienced recently.

Tomorrow should bring another step towards more typical summer temperatures. London can expect a mixture of variable cloud and sunny spells, with a small chance of an isolated spot of light rain during the morning. The rest of the day should become predominantly dry, with further sunshine developing.
