After a brief respite from the recent heat, temperatures are once again set to climb sharply across parts of Britain. Some areas could reach the low thirties by the end of the weekend, with the warmth expected to continue into next week.
By Sunday, parts of southern England could be experiencing the first stages of another heatwave, with even higher temperatures expected during the first half of next week.
An area of low pressure will be located to the north-west of the UK on Friday, with associated weather fronts bringing outbreaks of rain to northern and western Scotland. During the afternoon, this rain will gradually become largely confined to the far north-west.

Elsewhere, it will remain mainly dry, with periods of sunshine and variable cloud cover. One or two showers are possible across Northern Ireland, northern England and Wales, but many places will enjoy a pleasant summer’s day, with temperatures reaching around 25°C in the south and 20°C in the north.
A largely dry and clear night will follow, although thicker cloud and further outbreaks of rain will continue across northern Scotland and the Northern Isles, occasionally affecting parts of Northern Ireland. Temperatures will generally fall to between 10°C and 12°C, although some rural locations could drop into the low single figures.
Temperatures could exceed 30°C on Sunday
Very similar weather is forecast for Saturday, with large parts of England and Wales remaining dry and sunny. Temperatures will climb to around 27°C or 28°C,
