While much of England and Wales continue to bask in sunshine and temperatures climb into the mid-30s on Wednesday, a significant change is already on the horizon.
Wednesday will remain hot and sunny for much of England and Wales, with temperatures reaching 35°C in southeast England and widely exceeding 30°C elsewhere. Further north, however, the weather will already be changing, with cloud and outbreaks of rain affecting parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
During the evening and overnight, the cold front will continue pushing south through northern England, the Midlands and Wales. Much of the rain will weaken before reaching central and southern England, although a few spots of light rain or drizzle remain possible beneath the cloud band.

Although the front will bring little rainfall for most places, it will mark the end of the latest heatwave, with temperatures dropping by as much as 8°C in some areas by Thursday.
Behind the front, skies will gradually clear, allowing fresher air to spread across the country.

By Thursday morning, the cloud band will continue clearing southeastwards, with brighter conditions and sunny spells developing from the north and west. A few isolated showers may linger across central and southern England before fading, while northern Scotland continues to see scattered showers.
