Rain finally returns after weeks of dry weather – York sees 5.8mm, London 2.1mm

After weeks of dry weather across much of the UK, rain is finally set to return as the stubborn high-pressure system begins to weaken. But where are the heaviest falls expected, and will every part of the country benefit?

s we saw in previous reports, a powerful 1035 hPa high-pressure system anchored to the west of Ireland acted as a physical wall, deflecting Atlantic lows far to the north toward Iceland and Scandinavia. W

ednesday will bring a refreshing northwesterly flow. It will be dry across the south, with only light, patchy rain scraping the Scottish Highlands with Inverness expecting just 0.8mm of rain. London will sit around 27°C, Birmingham at 25°C, while Glasgow will stay relatively cool at 20°C. L

y Thursday, the high will extend a ridge across England and Wales. Winds will turn westerly but remain light due to a wide isobar spacing. The weather will remain settled and dry with highs in London of 26°C, York 23°C and Glasgow 18°C.
