When will it rain again? Met Office issues verdict as heatwave continues

After weeks of sunshine, soaring temperatures and very little rainfall, many people are asking the same question: when will it finally rain again?

According to the latest Met Office weather charts, the answer is not anytime soon for most of the UK.

High pressure remains firmly anchored close to Britain and is expected to dominate the weather through the rest of this week, keeping widespread rain at bay while allowing the current heatwave to continue.

That means many areas will remain dry for several more days, adding to what has already been one of the driest spells of weather this summer.

Some parts of southern England have now gone more than three weeks without any measurable rainfall, while many areas of Wales and Northern Ireland have also recorded well below their usual July totals.

Only a small chance of showers

Tuesday afternoon will remain dry and sunny for most of the UK, although cloud will linger across parts of eastern Scotland and eastern England.
