This Sunday, smartphones across the UK will vibrate and make a siren sound. The If this happens to your phone, do not worry, it is just the government testing their Emergency Alerts system. Only devices compatible with their system will receive the alerts.
The government will be running a national test of the Emergency Alerts system on Sunday 7 September 2025. As part of the test, your mobile phone or tablet device could:
Make a loud siren-like sound, even if on silent modeVibrateRead out the alert
The sound and vibration will last for about 10 seconds. But do not worry, it is not a real emergency at 3 PM on Sunday. You can expect the alert to include a phone number or a link to the GOV.UK website.
