The first storm of the 2025 season has been named Storm Amy by the Met Office, who also updated a weather warning today for Scotland involving landslide risks. Storm Amy has been named by the UK Met Office’s Storm Centre today (1 October 2025) with potential impacts with is associated heavy rain and strong winds in the forecast.
A deep area of low-pressure is now named Storm Amy – marking the first named storm of the 2025-2026 season. The possibility of Storm Amy developing has been closely watched by meteorologists, arising out of the remnants of Hurricanes Humberto and Imelda from over the Atlantic. These systems have amped up the jet stream, contributing to Storm Amy’s intensity.
