UK weather: A settled week ahead, but how could a major change high above the Arctic change November’s outlook?

High pressure is keeping much of the country dry as November begins, but a potentially significant atmospheric event could influence weather patterns later in the month. What might it mean for the weather here in the UK?

November has begun on a relatively quiet note following last week’s Atlantic storms, with high pressure firmly in control of the UK’s weather.

However, the settled conditions will not necessarily bring widespread sunshine. Cloud and drizzle will affect some areas, while mist and fog could also be an issue for some.

The first week of November also brings the risk of a major event high up in the stratosphere, the effects of which could be felt towards the end of the month.

Sunshine in the west, cloudy and drizzly further east

Monday will bring a brighter day to many western areas, particularly western Wales, Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland.

However, showers will develop along eastern England, particularly across Lincolnshire, Norfolk and East Anglia. Some could spread towards the Home Counties during the afternoon.

While spells of sunshine are possible across western areas through next week, easterly winds could bring in cloud and showers off the North Sea across the eastern half of the country

Temperatures will generally reach 10°C …….
