UK weather outlook: Sunshine returns for another week as dry weather persists

Despite temperatures easing this weekend, the warm, dry and settled weather continues. While a few isolated showers are possible, are there any signs of any meaningful rainfall later this week?

After another weekend of sunshine and above-average temperatures, little is set to change as we head into the new week.

While temperatures won’t be quite as high as they were during the recent heatwave, many places will still enjoy pleasant summer conditions with plenty of sunshine.

The only exception is likely to be across the far north of Scotland, where weak weather fronts will occasionally bring more cloud and patchy rain, while the odd isolated shower could develop elsewhere.

Slightly cooler weekend, but plenty of sunshine

Sunday afternoon will be warm and sunny for most of England, Wales and much of Scotland, although one or two heavy showers could develop across parts of Devon and Cornwall later in the day, with a chance of some thunder.

A few isolated light showers are also possible near eastern coasts, but for the vast majority it will remain dry with long spells of sunshine.

Temperatures will generally reach the low to mid-20s, with highs of around 25°C or 26°C across parts of South Wales and southwest England. It will be cooler across northern Scotland, where thicker cloud and patchy rain gradually arrive later in the day.

The warm and dry weather is set to continue across much of the country over the coming week, with widespread sunshine and temperatures across southern England likely to rise once again reaching the high 20s
