UK Weather: Waiting for rain – when will the dry weather break?

High pressure continues to dominate the UK’s weather, bringing warm, sunny days and largely clear skies across much of the country. While northern Scotland is likely to see the odd scattered shower, the south will remain predominantly dry throughout the week. But when will the much-needed rain finally arrive?

The dominant high pressure continues to position itself to the northwest of the UK, bringing widely settled, sunny and warm weather through the country this week. A few scattered light showers are possible across northern Scotland and Northern Ireland during the morning.

These will gradually fade through the afternoon, leaving behind largely sunny and settled weather across most areas. The best of the sunshine will continue to be around Wales and England.

Warm and sunny weather is likely to dominate the UK this week.

Temperatures will remain above average for the time of year across much of the southern UK this week. Across England and Wales, daytime temperatures will widely reach 24-25 °C, with a few locations climbing to around 26 °C.

Further north, Scotland and Northern Ireland will be cooler, with temperatures generally ranging between 16 and 19 °C, although southern Scotland could see highs of up to 24 °C during the afternoon.

Meanwhile, across the eastern coasts, with moisture feeding from the North Sea, daytime temperatures will remain colder. Widely, 21-22 °C can be expected today across the North Sea coasts on Monday.
