A moorland in Eyri (Snowdonia) National Park, Borrowdale in the Lake District and an estate in Somerset are to benefit from work to both prevent floods and restore nature.
Restored peat on the Migneint plateau (c) Paul Harris and National Trust ImagesThree upland areas in England and Wales will soon undergo £600,000 of nature restoration to reduce flood risk, in a partnership between the National Trust and insurer Admiral.
Over the next three years, the two organisations will work to restore landscapes in the Eyri (Snowdonia) National Park, the Lake District and the Holnicote Estate in Somerset.
The restoration projects will provide natural flood protection by slowing water flow, as well as storing carbon, and creating healthier habitats for wildlife.
