The week starts with a chilly, misty Tuesday in the south and heavy rain across northern and western regions. With a Met Office warning already in place and ex-Hurricane Humberto looming, the UK is set for a wet and windy start to October.

Tuesday morning sees a chilly start for much of southern England and Wales, with early patches of mist and fog in rural areas. Northern and western regions start the day cloudier, with patchy rain moving slowly southwards across Scotland and Northern Ireland. Daytime highs in the southeast are expected to reach around 18°C, slightly above the seasonal average of 15°C, while northern areas will see more subdued temperatures around 13–15°C.
Through Tuesday afternoon, the north-south weather split becomes clearer. Sunshine will break through in parts of the southeast, while northern and western areas continue to see patchy rain and breezy conditions.
